History and Purpose of the International Pacific RV Service Net
The International RV Service net has been in operation for many years in several formats. It started as a part of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International Amateur Radio Club. WBCCI still has nets on 20 and 40 meters across the country in different time zones. We believe our West Coast 40 meter net was started by Don Hills K6BYP. He was the net manager until after his 90th birthday when his health deteriorated. Arch McGregor W6AGZ carried on as net manager until May 2001. KA6TGE Don DeGroot was then designated as the manager. Bill Jones KD7S is the current manager.

The primary purpose of our net is to provide a place for RV hams to make contact on the road and to report weather and travel conditions in their area. All hams, General Class and above are welcome to check in as well.

To help our net users to have an "eyeball" contact with those they meet on the air, we have two regular rallies each year, one in April in Banning CA, the other in October in King City CA. We announce details of the upcoming rally on the net for about a month beforehand. Our first rally was held in April 1978.

If you can add anthing to this history page, please send to us a brief note about your recollections, preferably by e-mail. Don't worry about being fancy; "bits and pieces " are fine. This kind of information evaporates so easily over the years.
